Lemon and Herbs Fish en Papillote

Lemon and Herb Fish en Papillote is such an amazing and quick recipe. En Papillote is French for “in parchment”. It is a method of cooking basically fish and vegetables are put into a folded pouch (parchment paper) and baked. This retains the moisture to steam the food. The moisture may be from the food ,stock or even wine. Also, a papillote should be opened at the table to allow people to smell the aroma when it opens.

This is a very basic recipe of Fish en Papillote dressed with garlic, butter, lemon and herbs. You can even add vegetables of your choice.

  1. Take a fish fillet washed and pat dried. Season it with some salt and pepper.
  2. In another pan, heat some butter and add garlic. Switch off the stove when garlic turn light brown in color.
  3. Take a big piece of parchment paper. Place a piece of fish fillet on one side of the paper. Dress it with butter and garlic sauce.
  4. Add some dried herbs, chilli flakes on top of the fish.
  5. Add some fresh coriander leaves and place lemon slices on the fish.
  6. Fold the parchment paper from the other side and seal it by folding from all the sides nicely so that the air does not evaporate.
  7. Place it in the pre-heated oven at 200°C for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Serve hot on the table by cutting the parchment from the center.
